Designing Proteins to Spec

Most biology that matters is undruggable by small molecules. The Protein Design Institute treats that gap as its mandate. Generative protein-design models, structure prediction, free-energy calculation, and high-throughput in-silico screening collaborate inside a closed loop that proposes, ranks, and refines candidate binders, enzymes, and biologics against targets nominated by other institutes — including hard-to-hit neurodegeneration targets and previously inaccessible regulatory proteins. Designs flow into wet-lab validation through partner platforms, with results cycled back into the model. The institute exists so that when another CureForge institute identifies a high-confidence target, a credible binder is on the bench in weeks, not years.

Value proposition:
  • Generative design for undruggable targets
  • Closed-loop wet-lab feedback
  • Weeks from target nomination to candidate
